What sets SOuth Shore Permaculture apart from other Design courses?

  • The classroom portion of this course will take place virtually. It will be held once a week on Thursday evenings from 6:30-9 pm and it will run January 19th-May 25th 2023. We will cover an array of topics from the basics of Permaculture to the intricacies of creating your own Permaculture Design, while featuring exciting guest lecturers and providing tons of suggestions to further your education.

  • The workshop portion of this course will take place at various locations throughout the South Shore. Workshops will be held once a month, on a weekend day, between January and September [dates, times and locations will be shared over the next 3 months]. Each workshop will begin with a lecture preparing students for the day’s project. After the lecture, students will perform hands-on Permaculture tasks ranging from seed starting to building berms and swales to sheet mulching.

  • The material we will cover throughout this program will be expansive and yet our focus will remain on practical knowledge that you will be able to apply to your own home or community right away. We will begin with the basics of Permaculture such as principles, identifying patterns, reading the landscapes and site analysis. From there we will explore native plants, fungi, soil testing and so much more. We will be examining these topics through the lens of our coastal New England home.
