Learn & Grow
South Shore Permaculture has compiled links to other organization to help our community learn more about permaculture and the extensive benefits nature provides.
Permaculture 101
Short for “Permanent Agriculture”, Permaculture is an environmentally conscious approach to food production and sustainable living. Permaculture aims to produce more outputs, like food, with less inputs, like labor and resources. The Principles of Permaculture are excellent building blocks for food production as well as housing, relationships and lifestyle design.
Foundations in Indigenous Science
The basic concepts of Permaculture stem from the observation of the Aboriginal people of Tasmania and how they interacted with the land. Permaculture is an indigenous science of working in partnership and reciprocity with the natural cycles of the earth.
Dr. Lyla June is a Diné musician, scholar, and cultural historian.
