Kids Permaculture Workshop!

About the Workshop:

Get ready to dive into the amazing world of plants at this fun, hands-on experience! Led by Julia Chase and Jessica Fox, and designed for children aged 6-12, this planting workshop will introduce kids to the awesome ethics of permaculture: earth care, people care, and fair share. We will discover fun facts about plants and engage in hands-on planting tricks in a fun, stress-free environment. Everyone is welcome and no experience is needed – bring your curiosity and excitement! The cost is on a sliding scale of $20-$40 to accommodate different family budgets. Please see payment options for more information. Let’s grow, learn, and have a blast together!

Activities:

- Nature Walk: We’ll take an exploratory stroll through the forest to engage our senses and observe the natural world.

- Planting Project: Kids will get creative by decorating a flower pot with upcycled materials and planting a seed they may give to a loved one.

- Propagation Station: Each child will propagate a plant to bring home and observe to learn a sustainable gardening technique.

How these activities integrate the ethics of permaculture:

- Earth Care: Using up-cycled containers, your child will learn the importance of reducing waste and utilizing existing resources. They will develop an appreciation for nature and its processes by observing different growing patterns.

- People Care: Collaborating on this project fosters a sense of community. Kids will learn plant propagation, share knowledge and skills, and support each other's learning journey.

- Fair Share: Understanding how to propagate plants and collect seeds emphasizes the importance of sharing resources. Children will see how their contributions can impact their community positively.

Spaces are limited! Sign up today to ensure your child doesn't miss out on this enriching and expansive experience!

This workshop will be co-led by Julia Chase, Nature Connection Facilitator. Julia curates experiences that bring us back to our roots - our innate connection to the land. Her work as a Nature Connection Facilitator aims to foster community by reconnecting us with Mother Earth and each other so that we can work toward unlearning the illusion that we are separate. She aims to co-create a culture of wellness, joy, and empowerment through our connection with Earth.
